Full safety information

This is the long version of what's printed on the jar. It's here because a label panel can't hold it all — not because it's fine print.

One rule before anything else: we can tell you exactly what is in this product and at what dose. We cannot tell you whether it's right for your body, and we won't try. If you take medication or have a medical condition, ask your doctor or pharmacist — and show them this page.

Do not use this product if any of these apply

  • You have liver disease. Ashwagandha has been linked to liver injury in a small number of people. If your liver is already compromised, the risk isn't worth it.
  • You take immunosuppressant medication (including after an organ transplant). Ashwagandha affects immune activity; a transplant rejection has been reported.
  • You are pregnant or nursing.
  • You are under 18.

Talk to your doctor before using it if you take…

Here's the specific reason for each, so the conversation is a short one.

  • Antidepressants (SSRIs and similar). Saffron acts on the same serotonin system these medications work on.
  • Sedatives or sleep medication (including benzodiazepines and anticonvulsants). Ashwagandha and L-theanine can both add to drowsiness.
  • Thyroid medication. Ashwagandha may raise thyroid hormone levels; separately, magnesium interferes with the absorption of levothyroxine (see timing below).
  • Blood-pressure or diabetes medication. Ashwagandha may lower blood pressure and blood sugar, which can add to what your medication is already doing.
  • Blood thinners or antiplatelet medication. A bleeding episode has been reported with saffron alongside an anticoagulant.

Also talk to your doctor first if you have kidney, thyroid, or autoimmune disease, or you have surgery scheduled.

Timing with other medication

Magnesium binds to certain medications in the gut and blocks their absorption. This isn't dangerous — it just makes the other medication work less well, and it's solved entirely by spacing the doses.

Thyroid medication (levothyroxine) at least 4 hours apart
Tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics 2 h before, or 4–6 h after
Bisphosphonates (osteoporosis) at least 2 hours apart

In practice this usually sorts itself out: Night Reset is taken 30–60 minutes before bed, and those medications are typically taken in the morning on an empty stomach. Check your own routine anyway.

If you already take a magnesium supplement

Swap it — don't stack it. Night Reset contains 300 mg of elemental magnesium, and the tolerable upper intake level for supplemental magnesium in adults is 350 mg per day. Adding a standalone magnesium (or a ZMA, which is largely magnesium) puts you over that. The usual result is loose stools, not better sleep.

Stop taking it and contact a doctor if you notice

  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, persistent abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, or itching. These can be signs of liver injury. Reported cases with ashwagandha have typically appeared between 2 and 12 weeks after starting, and resolved after stopping. Don't wait it out, and don't restart the product afterwards.
  • Any other reaction that concerns you — rash, racing heart, persistent stomach upset, or anything that started when the product did.

Our 90-night guarantee is deliberately longer than that window. If you stop for any reason, including this one, you get your money back and you keep what's left.

Report a problem

If you experience a serious adverse reaction, tell us: hello@protocolday.com, or write to the address below. We are required to report serious adverse events to the FDA, and we will. You can also report directly to the FDA through MedWatch at fda.gov/safety/medwatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.

What's actually in it, and the study behind each dose, is in the Evidence Library. The lab certificate for your specific batch is at this batch's lab results.
